Join Sarah on one of her one day group workshops in the Cotswolds.

Officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Cotswolds is known for being one of the most quintessentially 'English' and unspoiled regions of the UK. With its gentle hillsides, river valleys and delightful honey coloured villages there is plenty to offer the photographer. Born and bred in the area, Sarah has an intimate knowledge of the Cotswolds and will share with you her techniques and enthusiasm.

This one-day workshop has been designed to help you improve your photography in two ways; by developing your creative eye, and by gaining a better understanding of your camera and its capabilities to enable you to get the best results. Regardless of whether you only picked up a camera for the first time recently, or have been shooting for years, this is sure to be an enjoyable and beneficial days' shooting.

With a maximum group size of 8, Sarah assisted by fellow photographers Neil Protheroe or Joe Bowes, will work together with you to ensure you receive a high level of individual tuition. Whether you are a beginner or enthusiast, shoot digital or film, the workshops are designed to help develop your skills as a landscape photographer, at some of the most picturesque locations the Cotswolds has to offer.

The day is fairly relaxed, but you will have the chance to create a number of images with constructive advice, enabling you to get the most from your camera, whatever your level of knowledge.

During the day we will cover some of the main aspects of landscape photography:

  • Working with the light - the vital role light plays in landscape photography.
  • 'Finding' the image - previsualisation, composition, lead in lines, rule of thirds, symmetry
  • The relationship between shutter, aperture and ISO
  • Depth of field and focusing
  • Use of the histogram to determine exposure
  • Use of appropriate filters
  • Understand white balance and colour temperature
  • Jpeg verses RAW

All tuition is out in the field on location and we will usually visit around four locations during the day.

Terms and conditions:
With the unpredictable English weather to contend with, we are not always presented with the best photographic conditions, however we will make the best use of what we have on the day. Whilst it would be great if you could go home having created a jaw dropping image, the main aim is to learn how to improve your photography. However, in the advent of the forecast of adverse weather conditions the workshop will be rescheduled and you will be offered a new date subject to availability. Should you be unable to attend this your money will be refunded in full.
