Snowdonia and Anglesey

Outside of Scotland, Snowdonia is one of the most rugged and dramatically mountainous regions in the UK. Much loved by climbers and walking enthusiasts it is also an area rich in landscape photography opportunities with spectacular mountains, valleys, lakes and coastline.

From Cadair Idris and Barmouth in the south, to Snowdon and Tryfan in the north, and the beautiful coastlines on Anglesey, this is a region that offers a great variety of scenery, in all seasons, in a relatively compact area.

As well as photographing the highlights of Snowdonia including the Ogwen Valley with Tryfan and the wonderfully named Devil’s Kitchen forming a magnificent backdrop to Llyn Idwal, we will also travel to Anglesey with its impressive array of coastal scenery and iconic lighthouses at Llanddwyn Island, South Stacks and Penmon Point. We will also visit the valleys of Gwynant, Ogwen, Llanberis, Ffrancon and Conwy where we will find beautiful lake, woodland and mountain views all around.

We have timed our workshop for Spring, just as the colour starts to return to the landscape. This time of year also offers us the potential of some superb light for landscape photography with the chance of some atmospheric cloud and possibly mist over the lakes.

We will show you how to prepare for the best light and capture the mood of this rugged and often wild region. As well as helping you to master exposure and composition, you will also be able to experiment with long exposures with the use of filters.

There will be the opportunity to receive constructive feedback on your images in our group critique sessions and also to discuss photographic techniques over dinner.

This three day workshop offers numerous opportunities to capture some of the most beautiful scenery that North Wales has to offer. Come and join us and experience the many captivating faces of Snowdonia, the beautiful coastline of Anglesey and the wonderful valleys and lakes. This is a workshop with a taste of the wild about it.
