The Splendour of Blenheim - one day landscape garden photography workshop

Located in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, the majestic stately home of Blenheim Palace sits among more than 2000 acres of beautifully landscaped parkland designed by the famous landscape architect; 'Capability' Brown, and is considered to be one of his finest achievements.

This large undulating park was created initially at the beginning of the 18th century, but completed several years later. Commissioned by the forth Duke of Marlborough in 1763, Brown transformed Blenheim Palace’s landscaped parkland, his intention being to create a unified 'naturalistic' landscape providing constantly changing views from a circuit of walks and carriage drives. His greatest transformation to the park was the creation of the serpentine lake which greets you as you enter the main gate, offering a wonderful view across to the Grand Bridge and Palace.

As well as the extensive parkland, the ornamental gardens seen today are a delight to behold. The Italian and water gardens, were entirely the design of the 9th Duke of Marlborugh and the French Architect Achille Duchêne, who also had half million trees planted in the park. He is responsible for the elaborate water terraces on the west front, comprising ponds, fountains, and statuary.

This one-day workshop has been designed to help you improve your photography in two ways; by developing your creative eye, and by gaining a better understanding of your camera and its capabilities to enable you to get the best results. We will spend the entire day on location, capturing the sweeping parkland and formal gardens, including the Rose Garden, secret garden, the water terraces, and Grand Cascade. Regardless of whether you recently picked up a camera for the first time, or have been shooting for years, this is designed to be an enjoyable and beneficial days' shooting. You will have the chance to create a number of images with constructive advice and will be able to share them on our dedicated Flickr page for critique afterwards.
