Bluebell workshops

It's a truly uplifting experience to witness dawn breaking in a bluebell wood. A carpet of bluebells is one of the UK's most loveliest and most spectacular sights, made all the more special first thing in the morning, as the suns rays slowly illuminate the woodland.

We have chosen the beautiful beech woods at West Woods, near Marlborough, as the location for our bluebell workshops this year. Whilst there are many bluebell woods to be found, few are as 'clean and tidy', allowing for some wonderful captures as we wander the pathways within.

Aside of the important considerations of composition and control of light, there will also be the opportunity for close up captures, making effective use of depth of field, and taking into account shape and texture. You will also have the chance to be artistic as we experiment with ICM (intentional camera movement)- to create more abstract images, as well as in-camera multiple exposures.

Our early starts on April the 28th and May 6th will allow us to take advantage of the soft morning light. It's at this time of day that the texture of the flowers is revealed and colours appear more saturated. The verdant young leaves of the beech trees contrasting perfectly with the intense colour of bluebells beneath.

For those of you who prefer a more leisurely start to the day, our May 4th workshop commences at 9am.
